I felt that!

The scent of fresh grounds filled the air. The coffee drip had started. All of us were filtering through our morning emails, slowly waking to the arrival of yet another work day. Soon people were bustling about. Some were filling their coffee mugs...when a BOOM was both heard and felt. The trailer shook. The coffee bookcase moved. I just stood there with my coffee mug in hand, in the middle of the trailer. A unified sigh filled the room.

After a moment…
"Ah guys...?"
"That had to have been a car bomb," says one.
"Yeah! That was way too loud for a mortar."
"Definitely NOT a mortar."
"Check Yahoo...CNN..."

Within minutes, streaming news feeds were confirming our verdict. Within a couple hours, two more were heard and felt. The "collateral" damage numbers were and still are climbing.

I will never understand the mindset of the drivers of those vehicles.
Did they wear their seatbelts as they prepared for their head-on collision with death?
Did they kiss their children good-bye just as they had done the day before?
How do they know that these actions are ordained, directed and approved by Allah?

Well, as Dan would say, “population control,” as callous and impersonal as that may sound. No matter, I would never sign up for that joy ride!

Hey, how about another topic...
Dan and I are missing a historical moment in Washington State. Mount St Helens is about to blow its head again. We figure it will be a small eruption in comparison to the May 1980 eruption. Dan recalls riding home on the school bus during the May 1980 eruption. And to think, we were planning to purchase a parcel of land on the East side of the mountain, overlooking Yale reservoir. Oh boy.

A lot of hype and no boom so far. We've got our contingency camping gear at work. Of course, Dallas and I pretty much travel with that stuff all the time, so no big deal. But Ron (VP of Hosting here) wants us to be prepared to double up our shifts if we get a bunch of ash fall.
