Give me an apple and call me "Teach"

Well, four days of teaching Introduction to FrontPage to twenty Ministry of Defense employees was both an exercise in patience and a positive experience. I never realized the amount of preparatory work that was required, and I never witnessed so much interest and enthusiasm! Thank God for the two lab translators/instructors! Phew.

Tomorrow, the students will take an exam before being handed their Certificate of Achievement awards. The results of the exam will, not only show how well they recall the in-class exercises, but will also grade my teaching ability. I am sure everyone will do just fine. Why, of course. :)

Hey, if Shane can teach first graders, you should be able to teach Iraqis! Give one an appreciation, doesn't it? Who thought every one of my kids would end up being teachers? I certainly knew they did not want to be MD's!

It's hard- you always want to make sure you've 'done right' by your students. I've done a LOT of it, both in the military and out. While I was in the AF and the Guard, I don't think there were ever 3 consecutive months that I was not formally either in training, or training someone else.

I vastly prefer mentoring relationships and small group teaching than classroom settings though. Especially teaching kids- when I was teaching English in Korea, the small groups or individuals were SO much easier than the school/classroom settings.

It's gratifying that they paid attention to you though- you should be very proud that they were actually engaged in a class taught by an infidel woman!
